Stewart

Stewart has wanted to learn to play the drums for a long time, but never had the chance. Just days before Christmas, because of the wonderful generosity of Blue Star Connection, Stewart received an awesome set of drums! His brother plays guitar and they’re having so much fun “jamming”. THANK YOU BLUE STAR CONNECTION and GRAND COUNTY BLUES SOCIETY!!

In March 2009, Stewart was in the 8th grade, playing soccer for his school and recreation league teams. He was having a great year in school and a lot of fun with his friends. But on April 1st, after feeling very fatigued and having a few episodes of fainting, he was admitted to Duke University

Hospital. On April 9th, he was diagnosed with Stage 3, Diffuse Large B-Cell Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. We were shocked! Stewart spent the next five months in intense chemotherapy at Duke. While his brother and his friends were finishing the school year and enjoying their summer, he was losing his hair and very, very sick. On July 31st, he finished his last round of chemo. He is cancer-free! Now, Stewart is in high school part-time and still recovering both physically and mentally from this life changing experience.
